This activity is called "Cubist Portrait". To carry it out, we could take advantage of Picasso's biography, as well as information related to cubism and mathematics. In this way, we would be creating a didactic unit. Briefly, I suggest:
1. Objective: To analyse the differences in personal traits and establish a relationship with peers through communication and respect; to work in pairs, to accept and understand the peer's view of ourselves, as well as to observe peers and communicate their view in an appropriate way, to increase self-confidence and affective capacity among students; to identify feelings and emotions of others and one's own; to develop imagination and creativity.
2. Materials: markers, cardboard, paints, portraits of Picasso, paper.
3. Advice for teachers: let student develop their creativity and be respectful with each other.
4. Implementation: After learning about the characteristics of Cubism and the influence of geometry on art and Picasso, the pupils will be divided into pairs. They will spend some time observing each other in order to compare and analyse each other's facial features. First one will be the model and the other the artist (then the roles will be reversed) for approximately 20 minutes. The aim is for the artist to make a cubist portrait of his/her partner in pencil during this time, resulting in a sketch of the final work. Once both artists have the sketch of the other, they can colour it, use cardboard, etc. to finalise it.
Optionally, an exhibition can be set up on a mural, on the walls of the classroom or in the corridor. A game of "Who's who" can be played.
In order to evaluate the activity, interest in the activity, participation and attitude with classmates, creativity and elaboration together with cooperation will be taken into account. A rubric can be created to facilitate the process.
An alternative to this activity to make use of technology is to make use of the online application MrPicassoHead, which allows you to create portraits in the style of the painter. Among its options, it offers different types of face, eyes, nose, hair, etc. I sincerely consider it to be very complete. I leave the link below to access the resource: https://www.minijuegos.com/juego/mr-picassohead
An example of what type of creation can be done with the app is the following one
